Sorry! I'm back... to working on the blog again!!

Allooo... I'm baccckkk....!
My laptop has crashed on me finally... after serving me royally for 5 years since Uni days?!
I'm survivng on a netbook, FOC from signing up with another internet svc provider now.
I'm saving for a big trip this year and also for bigger plans in the near future... =D
Pls be patient with me as I get my blog up and running with the past events...

Sentosa & Holland Village

This is like the 4th time we're in Sentosa, wanting badly for a suntan!
It's the rainy season in S'pore, but what the heck?? OB and I just want to have a good break by the beach. Seeing that the weather was looking up, we hopped on the train and hoped for the sun to stick out a little longer with the clouds still hanging thou.


Caught sight of this insect extracting juice from the flowers in Sentosa. We've no idea what kind of insect it is. It's really huge bug!





Oh grey clouds looming over the sky... but it didn't keep the beach go-ers off. But eventually, no sun and an hour's nap later, we were on the way to Ikea at Alexander for some furniture-shopping.



While walking by Alexander Hospital towards Ikea, and found these 'love' seeds on the pathway.



We hardly see these trees around any more. For me, I used to watch them on tv dramas.



Inside Anchorpoint, there's a Disney cafe.



We didn't know there's one till we were there. Majority of the customers are Japanese with their families.

After having purchased the lot from Ikea, we were stucked outside thinking where our next stop will be. Thanks to OB who thought of Holland Village, a place that we have left at the back of our minds.



By the time we reached Holland Village, it was time for dinner. Pho Hoa was our 1st choice!
They served the best Vietnamese noodles and snacks so far. A pity that there's only 1outlet in S'pore, so far from central.

The cold popiah wrapped with prawn, rice vermiceilli, juliene pork and salad tasted good with their special plum sauce.



Another appetiser ordered out of curiousity. We couldn't put it to what it's made of. A little like tofu because it's soft and a little like fish cake for the taste.



The Beef Vermicelli! I think we ordered the kind with everything included and a Large one too!



We like the clear beef broth. So refreshing and nutritious because of the beef.



We ordered Chả Giò, fried version, wrapped with minced pork & vegetable.



All wiped out by 2 ladies. Shows that the food is great and not to be missed!



After dinner, we walked further down to my favourite Japanese bakery - Provence. It has only 1
outlet in S'pore, which is situated at Holland Village. But by the time the post is publised, they have opened another outlet in the new huge shopping center - Ion Orchard. *Hooray!* q(^_^)p



These were all mine! I had to buy alot back else I wouldn't know when it will be the next time I'll be there. Their famous bread is the cheese bunl. It was the 1st bread I tried and still couldn't forget the taste!



The owner was once an architect before he turned into a baker. He incorporated his skills taught in architect into the baking of lovely breads.



We were the last customers by the time the shop closed at 10 pm. You can have a cup of coffee with your favourite bread at the shop as well, sipping the time away.



With breads in tug, we couldn't wait for a round or two of drinks along the way.

At Holland Village, you get food, drink and some shopping all within steps. It's just like a mini Orchard.



We were lucky to have a table at Wala Wala, the popular hangout for drinkers. You get a list of international beers and some bar snacks as well.



Happy Hour - we got 1 pint of Sapporo and a German beer for OB. We had our fill of beers, and almost burt out beer bubbles.

The next morning,

I took out all the breads I got from Provence and took picture of them before they were gone!

Double Happiness - Pig Head's Lime Cheesecake & Buffet Dinner @ Merchant Court Swissotel

I promised Pig Head that I would reward her should she clear all her papers for the last semester.

She had been worried the last few weeks ever since her last exam, and when the result was about to be released. Well congrats to her! She finally graduated from SIM. And my 1st cheesecake came along to celebrate for her.



Turkey was snooping around.



My poor cheesecake... I supposed it was knocked and split into half when I carried to office in the morning.

Let me finish where it was left off baaa...



It's too soft. Guess I hadn't baked long enough.



It could be easily mistaken as cheese mousse.


Later that evening...

We had a buffet cum Christmas dinner treat witht the rest of our department at Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel.





Our 'gift'; 3 Ferrero Rocher & a voucher from NTUC Fair Price Supermarket.



Pig Head should be the happiest person on that day, 1st a cheesecake and a buffet feast!

For starters, I picked up some salad, sashimi and stir-fry shitake mushrooms.



Carnivore transformation... we had black pepper cray fish, mutton, spring rolls, fried dumplings, curry fish etc.



And my favourite Jap mini octopus! There was also fried carrot cake, but kinda bland.



Dessert was always enchanting to the ladies, and the ones served there were pretty limited. There were bread pudding, green tea cake, strawberry cake, cheesecake which were the usual flare.

The rest were still struggling the heavy dishes.

This was my childhood favourite. A nonya kuei (dessert) made up of coconut filling. But I couldn't any good ones around anywhere now.



A Santarina serving turkey slices with raspberry sauce/ chutney.



Well, I can't comment much since it's just ok for me... I can't forget the Turkey meat I had at 1 Christmas when I was with another company for a night of wonderful Christmas event.



Looked weird, ain't it? Tuxrkey and I concocted this of Yam ice-cream and fruits i.e. honeydew, water-melon and almond jelly. It's really diff-erent...

Finally, the dinner ended. I'll definitly won't go back, even though we had a great time there.
