A tribute to Mother's Day at Canton Wok
To have a family dinner there, especially during such special occasions, it's advisable to make a reservation 1st. Otherwise, you may have not a table at all.
We chose the set menu for this special day like all other tables had ordered on that night, though we changed 2 of the orders.
Set menu of signature dishes for 10pax at special price.
Double-Boiled Shark Cartilage Soup
Taste like chicken. So nutritious and delicious, that I had 3 rounds.
Deep Fried Brinjal with Pork Floss
I heard that the dish was invented by them, and subsequently other restaurants follow suit.
Bacon Prawn Rolls with Mayonnaise Cream
Hmmm... okie I didn't taste the bacon and mayonnaise cream. But this is a superb dish!
The prawn is soft inside, but the skin is crispy on the outside. Very Q.Q.
Steamed Crab with Glutinous Rice & Garlic
The glutinous rice is sticky yet not clumpy and hard. The crabs seemed to have been flavoured because the flesh is really sweet.
Simple Steamed Fish
We replaced the Steamed Fish with Award Sauce from the menu. It's flesh is fresh and tender.
Homemade Beancurd with Dry Scallops
The texture of the beancurd is soft and bouncy. The accompanying sauce is slightly sweet and salty at the same time. But it blends well with the beancurd which melts in your mouth.
Sweet Sour Pork Ribs
We swopped the Double Taste Pork Ribs for Sweet Sour only (half coffee, half sweet sour). Very crunchy and sweet.
Stewed Bee Hoon with Seafood Scallops
The bee hoon has absorbed the natural sweetness of the scallops thus not much additional seasoning is needed. It may look plain here but it's not as simple as it looks.
The restaurant
It's full throughout the night, and each table is occupied once the guests are done.
Double-Boiled Sea Coconut?
I think it should be Double-Boiled Papaya, with White Fungus & Red Dates. It's good for your skin. Not sweet, abit blend but have a 'natural' taste.
