Unsuccessful sun tan to fruitful feast & camp
The hope for sun to reappear was gloom.
Roaming around...
with her turtle-shell bag, which carried the tent.
Breeks @Harbourfront
I think the masquerades look better on the media than in real life.
I think this is the biggest Ben & Jerry's I've seen here.
White Dog Cafe
Their set lunch is very affordable @ $10.50!
I see it as another frenzy donut shop.
After much nudging by OB, I gave her Wasabi Donut a try.
It was great! Yummy and not so creamy. There's bonito fish flakes and seaweed as toppings. The wasabi was mild.
He's my current favourite HK actor.
A new HK cafe.
It's very sweet-looking shop.
Choc lovers will faint by this huge Godiva shop.
Brotzeit
I think it'll be a cool place to hang out for drinks next time.
Aji by Hanabi. It'll definitely be better than the Hanabi @ Odeon Towers.
Carnivore, as per OB, is a buffet style where the waiter serves shavings of different meat at your table. I'm waiting for her to do the food test and report.
This french bistro serves sandwiches, salads and coffee at pretty affordable price.
The classy version of Starbucks.
Taking a break while waiting for the drizzle to stop.
At 3+pm, the grey sky still hung above our heads. We changed out plan of sun tan to massage @ Chinatown. A shoulder massage of 30mins cost us each at $25. It's quite relaxing as it relieves the tension off our shoulders. But OB prefers the one she had in Thailand/ M'sia.
Katong, where the old and new shop houses co-exist. The place has come alive with the addition of new restaurants and the recognition of the popular simple food offers there.
See the queue here? We're right at the back @6pm.
With the few big groups of teens infront, it's hard to imagine when it'd be our turn. Luckily, Astons has improved their service and became more efficient. The waitress would ask for the no. of cx and take our orders as we're waiting in the queue.
While in the queue... There's a tau kwa pau (beancurd skin) stall right beside Astons that looked interesting enough for us to try. 1 box of 3 beancurd skins filled with chopped beancurd, eggs, bacon and sauces is $4 only. We bought it for our supper when we're camping at ECP later.
Apparently, this Mary's Corner Tau Kwa Pau is famous but why haven't we heard of or notice it before.
I thought my Chinese is bad, this is worse! Hand chicken?
OB: "They've revamped their menue and looked better than before.
OB decided on Double Chicken @ $10.5o. Each order of main course comes with choice of 2 sides. And for Double Chicken, you can choose any 2 types of chicken.
I had wanted to try the Chicken and Sausage Combo @ $10.90, although pre-warned that it might be sold out due to it's popularity. True enough or the curse of OB? I switchd to ieatSuper Burger @ $12.50.
A poster showing how ieat Super Burger's beef patty is being prepared.
We were sitted at 6.45pm, and eagerly awaited our food.
Our orders for dinner for the night.
OB's choice of Fried Crispy Chicken & Black Pepper Chicken and sides of Red Potato Salad & Cauliflower and Carrots.
We prefer the Crispy Fried Chicken more. The coating was light and the taste unique. I do not know what was added in that make it special. The Black Pepper Chicken was tender and the sauce was of a good consistency. But it doesn't taste as good once it's cold.
ieatSuper Burger has come with no sides at all. It wasn't really that large, but taller than the usual ones because of the no. of ingredients that make the burger.
The burger looked too lonely so I added 2 sides of coleslaw and pasta salad. The cabbage used in coleslaw was rather old, and the pasta in pasta salad were undercooked. But the latter was tasty yet slightly oily.
What's in a ieatSuper Burger? From top: Hamburg bread - a dollop of sweet mayo - iceberg lettuce - chunk of fried onions - bacon strips - cheese - beef patty - hamburg bread.
Overall, a salty burger. And the beef patty was grilled to the extent that all juices has escaped, leaving it dry and tasteless. Seriously, I rather order ICB's Mini Burgers with chunky fries as side @ $14+.
Even by the time we finished our dinner at 8+pm, the queue was still there.
After some digestion at Parkway Parade, time to set up our tent for bed time.
The tent was set up in less than 1/2 hour. We were too tired and took a rest. But the night wasn't peaceful.
- The sky was red and the strong gust was beating against our tent.
- The noises made by group of people at 4+am?
- The hard uncomfortable ground.
At around 6+am, we were awoken by the running steps of joggers.
We're one among the many 'terraces'.
ECP was covered almost entirely with campers.
We were wondering if the tent was meant for sleeping in at all.
The Tau Kwa Pau had turned bad in the following morning. The dinner from Astons was too much for us.
MacDonald for breakfast.
OB and her MacGriddle with Egg.
Though MacGriddle was tempting me, I couldn't resist my favourite Hotcakes.
And resist almost pouring the entire maple syrup onto them!
