Orchard Yong Tau Foo
This yong tau fu shop has the most choices I've ever seen. Not a fan, but I've seen my share of yong tau fu stalls in the CBD area. They've separate the selections between cook and uncooked (or un-fried). You'll definitely be spoilt for choice here.
It's a pretty small shop, and resembled those small and squeezy ramen shops I'd been in Tokyo. But still cosy and not too uncomfortable.
Even though it's Sun, the shop was still crowded with students, workers and the public. The staff was very helpful with finding seats for us.
Our yong tau fu arrived soon after we're sitted.
I'm a vege-person. I ordered more vegetables than meat and than anyone else. I'd ordered brinjal, lady's finger, kang kong, meat balls and beancurd with kway teow the soupy style. You can see the soya beans lingering in the soup, which is one of the ingredients used in most yong tau fu soups.
The sweet sauce is rather special, thick and rich with white sesame seeds added. The chilli was thick too but on the spicy side. It's really Gao! If I'm not wrong, they should be made by the owner himself.
Pig's was a bowl of meats! Fried luncheon meat, sausage, fishball, fried wonton, beancurd, xiao bai cai with mee and kwa teow soup style.
Both of our lunch cost him >SGD 10! Hahaha... But I would go back again, as the soup base was sweet and not salty, clear and not oily.
After our lunch, and with no place and neither any movie in mind, Pig suggested we visit his godson. Actually, his other intention was to have his usual round of mahjong with his friends.
Woowww... hasn't he grown bigger since we last saw him? And more charming too! =p
Cooo... so adorable! Seeing him Zzzz Zzz made me *YAWN*!!!
