Gals Only Hong Kong Trip: Day I

This is our 1st trip since our Uni days which we'd planned since Febraury!

Although a little drama happened in the morning on the day of our departure, but we still managed to get on the plane togther and completed this chapter on Hong Kong.

Our Dear Ms A rushed back from Kuala Lumpur the previous night and left her passport with her laptop in my room. So upon checking-in at the Jet Star counter, she realised it and ran off to grab a cab back my place to take her passport.

Ms Est on the other hand, couldn't be contactable from time we left my place to Changi Airport Terminal 1. We were so worried that she couldn't make it in time.

Well, she did appeared like 10mins or so later than us and her hp was faulty.

Yap yap... Ms A's super hyper after all that drama before boarding the plane even though we had only <2hrs>.

Est wrapped like a silkworm and tried very hard to fall asleep. Unfortunately for her, Ms A and I were too awake to let her be.

The first thing I spotted when I came out from the gate was Krispy Kreme

I hurried over to welcome the aroma of donuts anf coffee!

One original glazed donut for breakfast made me a happy person =D

We slacked at the cafe for awhile before we're off to catch the Airport Express train to Kowloon.

The Airport Express was a comfy and smooth ride, and made 3 stops only.

They have an indicator showing how far off you are from your destination.

Nice view of the hilly accompanied by the bright (hot) sun.

While waiting for our shuttle coach at Kowloon, this Okashi (Jap tidbits store) tempted our Ms A away.

We also spotted Maxim bakery shop along the way. It holds a special link to me. My friends will know why.

We reached our hotel, Metropark Hotel Mongkok, about 1.5hrs later but our room wasn't ready. So we went to a nearby chan ting for lunch, since the dim sum restaurant suggested by the hotel manager looked rather grand and expensive.

All 3 of us ordered noodles soup. On the left most is Est's Shredded Chix Noodles Soup.

Est was not feeling well so ordered something plain. It's really plain (dan) enough.

M All-Beef noodles soup was the tastiest! The soup's taste was Super Gao (thick with taste and aroma)!

Ms A's Dumpling Noodles Soup was ok. Pretty worth for the no. of big dumplings served.

The boss suggested we try his delicious Xiao Long Bao. We put up a fake acknowledegment look that they were as what the boss claimed. I thought Cyrstal Jade beat his flat. There was no soup in the bao and the meat was pretty hard. The bao were sorta dehydrated.

The 2 gals were checking the beds for... ?

The room was pretty comfy for 3 gals. Not squeezy at all.

We put down our bags and rested awhile before we set off to The Peak.

Prince Edward station is the nearest to our hotel.

I always remembered HK by their efficient MTR. And wondered why we can't do the same in S'pore as well??

The Central station looked like our City Hall station. The difference is they have retail shops, 7/11, and food outlets just outside the gantry.

Welcome HK's CBD area.

And The Peak is just further up.

Doesn't one find it amusing that a peak tram starts off from within a financial hub? Hmmm... How I wish that we can have one in the CBD where my office is now. And where there're a few bistros to get cosy in... (dreaming of beers...)

Don't be put off by the long long queue. It moved quite quickly.

There are 2 queues for 2 ticket counters. We went for a package deal which covered the tram ride, the peak and Mdm Tussards' Wax Museum, and the queue was shorter.

The steepest angle is at 45 Deg.

Looked like some roller coaster ride from this view.

This is the 'middlle' level where you can have a view w/o paying for the entrance.

The gals tried to act as if it's cold up there.

Penthouse... we like!

Ms A mimicking a PIG!

There's a shopping arcade on The Peak as well.

The gals were hungry again! So we settled on this cha chan ting for early dinner.

Ms A loves noodles. To add on, luncheon meat as well!

Est tucked away with her Luncheon Meat, French Beans and Egg w/ rice.

Me Beef Hor Fun.

And my Red Bean Ice. It's confirmed better than the one I had in S'pore. I could still taste the sweetness of red bean, and not entirely milk. It seemed nothing of those self-proclaimed HK coffee houses in S'pore can be compared to the real stuff here!

We went on for more photo taking again..

There's a slope that leads to a pavilion, where you can "feel" the air and the scenery nearer to you.

I can't decide I prefer the day or night view... but maybe night 'cos I like X'mas lightings during December!

See the fog hovering above?

There's this gelato shop beside the peak that attracted us with the colourful balloons.

And we saw a policeman looking cool and standing by the lamp post. I thought he looked like Tony Leung Kar Wei in the movie, Chungking Express.

We saw this nice cosy cottage-like restaurant beside The Peak. But we'd no time to check it out as we'd forgotten about Mdm Tussards.

Now meet the stars at The Peak...

Bruce Lee

Kelly Chen

Michelle Yeoh

I don't who she is but her costume caught my eyes.

Aaron Kwok

Mr & Mrs 'Smith'

Leslie Cheung

Princess Diana

Ex- US President Clinton

Est preparing her speech for the next election?

US President George Bush

Guess who I'm sucking up to?

Hitler!! My fav character in history text.

Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. I miss him.

Est and Einstein

Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.

Ooops! Forgot her name! Silence of The Lamb!

Est and The Beatles.

Leon Lai. 甜蜜蜜。。。

I didn't know Twins were here too.

Madonna and her infamous gear.

Miriam Yeung

We'd seen all the famous celebrities so decided to chill at HK's popular hangout for the night crawlers.

We were back at Central and decided to walk our way to SoHo.

Up the slope...

Passed by some clubbers...

Up the slope again...

Passed by Lan Kwai Fong

And we're stuck in the same area because we're lost!

And we finally found SoHo! After the all the perspiration and exhausted energy.

I happened to see this poster which I thought HK people are so kind and thoughtful.

The 800m mid levels escalator.

Another Krispy Kreme spotted at SoHo.

We decided to take a rest at this bistro, 'Portobello' and have our beer and tea. The bistro was pretty packed with yuppies all wanting a drink or two before they went off to bed. It was rather cosy with dimmed lights, but rather squeezy with limited seats.

The restrooms

We called it a night following this.
